Missis's teacher
Yes.. you read it correctly. It is missis's teacher from now on. At least, that is how my younger students are calling me haha!
Let's go back to where it began because I have not told you anything about my new nickname yet.
Last week, I had a job interview at the Oxford Language School. Usually, when you apply for a job interview, you have a conversation with someone who is in charge of the company. Possibly they give a small tour, and they sometimes discuss the follow-up steps about your possible future job. Well, this job interview went slightly different than usual. I had to teach a group of 10-year-old Spanish children?! Dit not expected that...
When I arrived, I was quite a bit nervous. Besides the fact it was still a job interview, I had no clue what I could teach the children during the class. When I entered the building, the woman in charge made me feel completely comfortable. She explained how they are operating, and she gave me some inspiration that I could use during the class, which was about to start in 10 minutes!!
The job contains nine hours a week. Not that much, but nonetheless, I am happy I got a job :). Every Monday till Thursday, I teach two classes from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m. The groups differ from one group with children aged from 8 till 10, one group from 10 till 13 years, and one group with teens around 19 years old and one adult of 53. I really like this diversity as well.
In the first class I had with the youngest children, we did a fun 'getting to know each other' game. I tried to introduce myself by saying my name and writing my name on the board. I even told them that they could call me 'Nic' if they thought that was easier. But nonetheless, they call me missis teacher. And to be honest, I think that name will do as well.
